Protecting Consumers From Unlawful Debt Collection & Harassment - We represent debtors who are being harassed by debt collectors and debt buyers in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The FDCPA provides consumers with up to $1,000 in statutory damages in addition to compensation for out-of-pocket expenses. By law, debt collectors and debt buyers can be required to pay out legal fees.
Protecting Consumers from "Zombie Debts" and Debt Buyers. We often battle Midland Credit Management (MCM), Portfolio Recovery Associates (PRA) and LVNV Funding. Protecting Consumers From Credit Reporting Errors - We represent consumers who have been harmed by inaccurate credit reporting as provided by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Employment Law - Representing private and public employees in matters involving wrongful termination, discrimination, unpaid wages and harassment.
Unlawful Telemarketing in Violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) - We sue companies that flood your phone with unsolicited robo calls and pre-recorded messages. We will enforce your rights if you are on the National "do not call list". We also sue companies that send "junk faxes". The TCPA provides for $500 to $1,500 for each unlawful robo call, pre-recorded message or junk fax.
Consumer Fraud - Representing consumers who have been taken advantage of by businesses and corporations.
Privacy Law - We protect employees and consumers from privacy violations. For example, we sue Illinois corporations that collect biometric information (fingerprints, facial images and voices) in violation of the Illinois Biometric Privacy Act (BIPA). BIPA provides for $1,000 for each separate violation of the law. Contact us if you logged into work with a time-clock system where your employer did not provide you with a consent form to sign.
Civil Rights - Protecting citizens from unlawful government conduct (specializing in false arrests and excessive force).
Class Action Law - Representing consumers in litigation to expose and remedy unlawful corporate practices.

We have a nationwide practice. While Vlahakis Law Group is located in Chicago, we are licensed to practice law in numerous federal courts, including, but not limited to, US District Courts located in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Texas, Colorado and Arizona. -Attorney James C. Vlahakis

Attorney James Vlahakis has over 25 years of legal experience, with nearly 20 years having represented corporations, creditors, governmental employees and employers.

Mr. Vlahakis has prosecuted and defended several hundred state and federal court lawsuits. In 2017, Mr. Vlahakis left the corporate side to join Atlas Consumer Law to represent consumers and employees.

Prior to joining Atlas Consumer Law, Mr. Vlahakis was a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP. While at Hinshaw, Mr. Vlahakis was recognized as a "40 Under Forty" attorney by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. In his nomination papers, one client descripted him as follows:
